Novelty detection in wildlife scenes through semantic context modelling

چکیده
Novelty detection is an important functionality that has found many applications in information retrieval and processing. In this paper we propose a novel framework that deals with novelty detection in multiple-scene image sets. Working with wildlife image data, the framework starts with image segmentation, followed by feature extraction and classification of the image blocks extracted from image segments. The labelled image blocks are then scanned through to generate a co-occurrence matrix of object labels, representing the semantic context within the scene. The semantic co-occurrence matrices then undergo binarization and principal component analysis for dimension reduction, forming the basis for constructing one-class models on scene categories. An algorithm for outliers detection that employs multiple one-class models is proposed. An advantage of our approach is that it can be used for novelty detection and scene classification at the same time. Our experiments show that the proposed approach algorithm gives favourable performance for the task of detecting novel wildlife scenes, and binarization of the semantic co-occurrence matrices helps increase the robustness to variations of scene

Integration of Contextual Information for the Transfer of Beliefs in an Information Sources Fusion System – Application to Detection and Classification of Trees Crowns
In this paper, we present an approach based on the transferable belief model for the detection and the classification of trees crowns on very high resolution satellite images of forest scenes. The masses resulting from the high resolution image source don’t always allow deciding between the classes of occupation satisfactorily. Forest context and information about the structure of the forest sp...

A B S T R A C T Introduction: In an oddball experiment, the context in which novel stimuli are presented affects characteristics of novelty P3, i.e. as long as there is a difficult task in which the difference between standard and target stimuli is small, recurrent presentation of a highly discrepant stimulus can lead to P300 highly similar to novelty P3. Effect of stimulus properties on P300 h...
متن کاملA Context-aware Architecture for Mental Model Sharing through Semantic Movement in Intelligent Agents
Recent studies in multi-agent systems are paying increasingly more attention to the paradigm of designing intelligent agents with human inspired concepts. One of the main cognitive concepts driving the core of many recent approaches in multi agent systems is shared mental models. In this paper, we propose an architecture for sharing mental models based on a new concept called semantic movement....
متن کاملNovelty Scene Detection Using Scan Path Topology and Energy Signature in Scaled Saliency Map
We propose a biologically motivated novelty scene detection model that can indicate novelty of the scenes having affine transformed field of views in dynamic environment. Novelty detection can play an important role as an intrinsic motivation, which makes an autonomous mental development model try to obtain new information and adapt to changing environment. The proposed model has been developed...
متن کاملSagan in TAC2010: A Machine Learning Approach to RTE within a Corpus
This paper describes the Sagan system in the context of the Sixth Pascal Recognizing Textual Entailment (RTE6) and the RTE task within a Corpus. The system employs a Support Vector Machine classifier which uses semantic similarity metrics to sentence level using only WordNet as source of knowledge, and co-reference analysis. Additionally, we proposed a baseline to the Novelty Detection subtask.
